a presto!

Wonderfully caring and well-cared for.
I stayed at this hotel for 7 nights and observed staff treating one and all with respect, kindness and a great deal of consideration. I am fluent in Italian, so the staff spoke with me in that language, but others needing assistance were cared for equally in numerous languages. Breakfast was ample and delicious, far beyond what I expected. The room was beautifully furnished and very comfortable.

We stayed in this hotel 2 years ago and had a lovely stay, this year we had planned to stay in a different hotel but it fell through and after looking around we decided to come back here. I'm so glad that we did. We stayed in 2 rooms (travelled with daughter) from 29th July to 3rd August 2011.
Firstly, the owner and staff are friendly, polite and helpful, in particular the young lady on reception speaks excellent English and is without fail extremely helpful, it shames me to admit that I don't know her name (being English I felt it would be rude to ask - I know silly of me).
Secondly, the rooms are spacious, beautifully furnished and exceptionally clean. I believe that all rooms come with ensuite facilities and I find that there is plenty of room.
Finally, breakfast... there is a good selection of various breakfast items (typical European style, which I love) including fruit juice and cereal for the less adventurous.
We plan to return to Firenze (Florence) in 2 years-time and I will use this hotel again (if I can get a room).

“If one is searching for an efficient, friendly service in a quieter location within easy ( 20 min ) walking reach of central Florence at an economical price, good and plentiful buffet breakfast, high standard of cleanliness and rooms with no frills then Hotel Il Granduca is well worth considering. One has to make allowances for the fact that the showers are small, but all bathroom units are of very serviceable quality.”

“Great location: close to all the sights but on a very quiet street. Large, yummy breakfast included. Lovely, private patio in back. Helpful staff. Great value! ”

Quaint, with nice staff.
Brilliant: close to most of the main attractions.
A great wee hotel in a quiet area but still close to the city centre. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the shower was excellent, though a bit small. Breakfast was traditional continental fare, and I enjoyed the delightful little old-fashioned lift! It's about a twenty minute stroll to Santa Maria del Fiore and it's on the same street as a pharmacy, just in case! On our last morning, the staff arranged our taxi to central station and waved us off. One thing to bear in mind is that this hotel does not include the Florence city tax in the cost of the room, so keep €3 per person per night for your check out. I would certainly consider a second stay at this hotel.

Nice and friendly!

It was very nice and clean. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Breakfast was good and fresh. Our room opened to a nice patio with little tables to relax and enjoy the sun and view.
I would go back and recommend without any problems =)
A little walk from the river and shopping but worth the distance!

"Charming antique furniture" means exactly what it says. It was a beautiful, great experience to greet the New Year in such a city as Florence! The staff is friendly and amazing and very helpful and it won't hurt that when you are travelling you will show some knowledge of the language of the country when you are staying! Not everybody is obliged to speak English! I speak 5 languages and I wasn't complaining that somebody would not understand my Russian, it would not even occur to me to expect something like that from the people at the reception or in the shops for that matter! So get a silly book 'Italian in 30 days' or something and then maybe you will see more friendly faces.
The distance from the city centre is just perfect. Especially for the New Year. Capodanno (the 'Italian' New Year..) is really crazy in Florence! :) But what an experience.
Just a few minutes away are all the museums, galleries and other famous landmarks, the distance to the Boboli Gardens is not a feat either, just maybe a 20 minutes walk.
Absolutely stunning views from the Michelangelo Square on the city and the Arno river.

Again, thank you, Sergio, for such a beautiful stay, for the care and everything else! If I hadn;t fallen ill for a few days, i was amazed, it's the only place where the maids were ready to do a total makeover of the bedroom every (!) day.

Ciao e molte grazie!

I am studying at Syracuse University, and my parents both stayed (2 different times) at Hotel Il Granduco. The man who runs the hotel makes a great appuccino and a lovely breakfast, he is sweet and super helpful when it comes to finding things to do in Florence. My mom needed a firmer mattress for her back, and the staff exchanged it immediately. My parents rooms were on the smaller side, but were plenty of room considering that we were here to see the city. The rooms were also immaculate and comfortably furnished. The breakfast was a delicious continental – try the yogurt, its super good and only made from Italian milk. The location of the hotel is literally 3 blocks away from the Syracuse University campus in Florence, but it won’t show up as the closest unless you know its there. It is the perfect place to be if you are looking to hang out with students who go there.

Overall, this hotel is adorable and comfortable – it offers everything important and the price and location can’t be beat. The staff is polite and attentive and super helpful.

I've stayed at Il Granduca 3 times now. That's the test of a good hotel. You keep going back. Il Granduca is a bed and breakfast hotel run with great attention to its customers by its owner. He is there every morning to see that breakfast is served to your satisfaction. There is a sunny court yard which even in November catches the wonderfully clear autumnal light. It's only a 15-20 minute walk into the Duomo and there are at least 4 buses you can take if you are feeling lazy. What I like above all is the sense that I am warmly welcomed and that the proprietor is proud of his establishment and its reputation for cleanliness, tasteful decor and abundant and varied breakfast fare.Staff at reception are courteous and ready to help you out at all times. I'm a retired high school teacher and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel very highly.

Il Granduca is in a perfect location for people visiting Florence: an easy walk to the old city center, but in a quiet area somewhat apart from the touristic hectic. The location is especially great for Americans visiting students at the Syracuse University Florence program, as it is only two blocks from the campus at Villa Rossa. It's also nice to get away from the big hotel chains and stay at a place with local character. While I was in Florence, I sprained my ankle. I was deeply touched when the owner of the hotel brought me an ice-pack and then checked on how I was doing and my needs for the remainder of my stay; it made it hurt less and made me feel less stupid. I will certainly stay at the Il Granduca anytime I return to Florence.

L'albergo è davvero incantevole, molto pulito, l'ambiente molto accogliente.
