Hotel Il Granduca is situated in Via Pier Capponi 13 in Florence, in the Santissima Annunziata neighborhood, a short distance from this famous church where Rosso Fiorentino and Pontormo worked. The city of Florence is a never-ending source of unique experiences ranging from visits to its famous sights to discovering its artisan workshops, where the oldest techniques for a vast number of trades are still handed down. The area of Santissima Annunziata where the hotel is located is situated in the greenery of its nearby parks, and has always been one of the areas preferred by the most famous Florentine artists in all epochs. The Hotel is located near Piazzale Donatello and can be reached by taking Viale Antonio Gramsci or Viale Don Giovanni Minzoni, even by car. A rare characteristic of Florence hotels, Il Granduca is located just outside the pedestrian area and therefore can easily be reached by visitors but is still close to the center.
The drive to the hotel goes through two lovely Renaissance parks: Giardino dei Semplici and Giardino della Gherardesca (designed by Giuliano da Sangallo and built between 1472 and 1480), which offer visitors a pleasant chance for a break in contact with nature.
Continuing on, visitors reach the more fascinating areas of the city, a seven-eight minute walk from the hotel: Piazza del Duomo with S. Maria del Fiore (with its famous dome by Filippo Brunelleschi) and Piazza S. Giovanni with the Battistero.
A little farther on is Piazza della Signoria with the medieval Palazzo Vecchio. From there it is a short hop to Galleria degli Uffizi, the true heritage of worldwide art with its rich fascinating displays which make any stay in Florence unique.
Piazza di Santa Croce, with its famous Basilica where the likes of Brunelleschi, Michelozzo and Della Robbia worked, is another mandatory stop on a classical tour which hits the city's most famous sights.
This is a good time for a walk along the Arno, possible with a stop on the famous Ponte Vecchio. This sight-filled itinerary can be easily done starting from "Il Granduca": within a kilometer radius are all of the works and buildings which give Florence its well-deserved worldwide fame and guarantee an unforgettable artistic experience for visitors. |

By plane
Amerigo Vespucci international airport is 10 km from the center of Florence. The "Vola in bus" shuttle takes around 20 minutes to get to Santa Maria Novella train station, which is 2 km from Hotel Il Granduca. A taxi takes 10 minutes to get to the Hotel, or take bus no. 17, getting off in Piazza Conti, Via Pier Capponi 13 is 100 meters away.

By car
From the freeway
Coming from the south, exit at "Firenze Sud" and follow the signs for the center (Centro). At the end of Lungarno del Tempio the street turns right. Continue for Piazza Beccaria, go down all of Viale Gramsci, when you are in front of the English Cemetery turn right into Piazzale Donatello and (after around 20 meters) immediately left going along the square; Via Pier Capponi is at the end of Piazzale Donatello, 20 meters farther on is Il Granduca at no. 13.
Coming from the north, exit at "Firenze nord" and follow the signs for the center and Viali di Circonvallazione leading to Fortezza da Basso. Take Viale Spartaco Lavagnini to Piazza della Libert. Drive along Piazza della Libert to the left towards Fiesole. When you leave Piazza della Libert, take Viale don Minzoni, the first street on the right is Via Pier Capponi, but you cannot turn into it because it is one way, continue for a few meters and take the first right (Via Leonardo da Vinci), go past Piazza Savonarola, Via dei Della Robbia and at the intersection with Via degli Artisti turn right and then right again into Via Pier Capponi. Hotel Il Granduca is 20 meters farther on at number 13.
